An update from the Ravenwood High School Band Booster Board President. A great performance, another busy week, and upcoming competitions. We also need more volunteers, and a few more snacks and drink mix for practice time!

Congratulations

Congratulations on a great show in Jacksonville! The show was clean and sounded great. We can’t wait to see you perform again in Cookeville and then Indianapolis. Remember that we have the second half of the performance season ahead of us!

Thank you to Pastor Derek and the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville who allowed us to stay with them Friday night. Their church was perfect for us and was within eye-sight of the college.

Thank you also to our parent volunteers. The sleepover and entire day went perfectly. We can’t do any of this without you!

Our Next Performance

Our NEXT PERFORMANCE is on October 29th and is the USSBA Tennessee State Championship in Cookville at Tennessee Tech University. It starts at 4:00pm and the awards are at 9:30pm.

Plan to attend this exciting evening and support your students! We currently have tickets for sale for $9.00. Gate price is $13.00. Contact president@ravenwoodband.com for tickets.

Monday — Normal Practice Times

TUESDAY –1 to 6pm Practice

THURSDAY — HOME GAME CENTENNIAL (8th Grade Night).

3:00pm — Rehearsal at RHS. Black Marching Shoes, Black Socks, Shorts, Marching Shirts.

Saturday — Fall Break

Next Tuesday (10/18) – 1 to 6pm Practice

VOLUNTEER NEEDS:

Monday — 3 -6 Field Help

Tuesday — 1-6 Field Help

Thursday — 3-6 Field Help

Game Time — Chaperones

Game Time — Pit

Game Time — Chick-Fil-A

Next Tuesday — 1-6 Field Help

SNACK NEEDS:

We need snacks and drink mixes again to get us through the season. We go through at least two cans of drink mix each practice. Please donate Gatorade Powder, Cracker Packs — Cheese and Peanut Butter, or Granola Bars.

The Road to Richmond

Mr. Kinzer expresses his sincere thanks to all parents and students for the great assistance and hard work in hosting the WCS Expo last night. He would especially like to thank Suzie Harlan for agreeing to serve as the chair of this event. She did a great job of ensuring that everything flowed smoothly. We hope everyone had the opportunity to see the amazing performance by our students at the expo. They are having great rehearsals and continue to strive towards a high level of achievement and excellence.

This week we look towards the Bands of America Regional Competition in Richmond, Kentucky on Saturday, September 24. We encourage everyone to travel with us and support these students in their performances next Saturday. As you could tell at the Exhibition, your enthusiasm and support for our students gives them the energy and motivation during their performance.

We may have room on our parent bus for those wishing to travel. What better way to travel as you get to sit back, relax and let someone else do all of the driving? If you are interested in riding with us, you can sign up through Charms. Cost is $25 per seat. If you have additional questions about riding with us, contact president@ravenwoodband.com.

We hope everyone is excited and ready for an action packed week as we continue to develop our show. The road to Nationals is shorter with each passing rehearsal and performance. Again, thanks for all of your support throughout the year.

Williamson County Band Exhibition!

Don’t miss the opportunity to see the shows from all the Williamson County Marching Bands tonight!

Gates open at 6PM, and admission is $7. Children age 6 and under are free! We will have concessions and proceeds benefit Williamson County Band programs and music education.

The expo is hosted by and located at Ravenwood High School this year.

Mr. Kinzer’s Tips for Successful Rehearsal

Here are a few tips from Ravenwood Director of Bands, Mark Kinzer, to make sure you are prepared to do a great job on the upcoming performances:

1. Memorize and be able to perform ALL of the required parts.

2. Bring your drill book to every rehearsal.

3. Eat healthy and stay hydrated.

4. Bring a postive work ethic and attitude to every rehearsal.
